Life Insurance Leads-Get the Gold
You’ve seen plenty of ads for life insurance leads. How do you know which insurance lead service actually works? With most insurance lead services, what you usually know is that the prospect has filled out a form on the Internet requesting information or a quote. Possibly, the prospect has provided their true age or accurate information about their health. Additionally, the prospect knows or suspects he will be contacted by an agent as a result of becoming a life insurance lead.
You cannot expect much else from an online insurance lead and you should not. For example, don’t expect that the prospect has been waiting by the phone to buy life insurance and is delighted as soon as they realize there’s an insurance agent on the phone. Life insurance leads, annuity leads, health insurance leads are all merely an indication of interest by the prospect, not a sure sign of a buyer. The prospect’s interest may range from “don’t bother me now” to motivated. And it’s your job, as the expert in the market to determine the buyer’s need or desire, infuse them with interest and convert that interest to an appointment. Don’t expect that the life insurance leads you buy to be ready-made sales—the outcome of an appointment depends on your skills and communication talents.
However, these comments are not meant to diminish the value of Internet life insurance leads or a life insurance lead service. Compare what you get buying Internet life insurance leads to cold calling from the phone book. The phone book lead is a total stranger who may have no interest whatsoever. Alternatively, insurance leads are a reflection of a prospect who went SEARCHING for life insurance information of their own volition. Insurance agents who use lead services are so far ahead of other agents who start from scratch and who won’t invest in their business to buy life leads. In fact, a new life agent can avoid washing out of the business as many do when they start their career by having a budget for insurance life leads, long term care leads or health insurance leads. No matter what type of leads the new agent buys, these leads help put any agent in appointments. And the following is true: the more activity you have, the more results you get.
Success in insurance, life, long term care insurance, health or annuity sales always boils down to only two elements: quantity and quality. A service which provides exclusive life insurance leads and quality life insurance leads will solve your quantity problem and help you setting appointments.

Are there any annuity leads systems that work
October 14th, 2009 at 11:43 pm
The best reasons for buying insurance leads are you can be connected to individuals who are looking for insurance. This is a huge opportunity for you to capitalize on. Generating insurance leads through internet is also a good option but these need a very good website with rich content. The old methods like telemarketing can also considered but it depend upon your skill with dealing people. It is always better buy insurance leads specific to your target market or the geographical area which you are looking for. Online insurance leads can get you leads which may be 1 hour old, this gives you good opportunity.

PROSPECT OR DIE…. The Prospecting Ladder
As we start out in the insurance business we go through a progression of different ways to generate insurance leads and prospects, which we call the prospecting ladder concept. However, the problem is that most agents are looking for some type of secret formula or method whereby they can receive good quality insurance leads with out working too hard to get them.
Well, let me share something with you. If selling life insurance was easy, then everybody would be doing it. Selling a life insurance policy is the easy part, but finding the prospects to sell insurance too is the hard part.
It is ultimately up to you to develop strong work habits and create or develop a system whereby you create an ongoing supply of prospects to see.
Most companies provide a number of different ideas to help you achieve that goal, but it is ultimately up to you to create the end result.
An agent can work harder or smarter. Most agents that do not succeed try to generate leads in an ad hoc manner, like shooting from the hip, as they say.
Referring back to the prospecting ladder on our website, it seems that most agents never seem to work there way up to the top of this prospecting ladder and they eventually fail in the business because they get stuck on the lower rungs.
Our insurance agents “help website” has many articles and shares many proven lead generaton sytems and marketing ideas for new and existing insurance agents. Check out the prospecting ladder topic page and get our free referred lead talk presentation.

I think the hardest for the insurance agent is to find a provider with quality leads. It is also important to choose a lead according to your needs.

As a former insurance agent and current mortgage broker I can appreciate your post. When i was an insurance agent we would send out little pink postcards to people who had recently taken out a new mortgage. The insurance leads we would buy back then (10 years ago) were okay but nothing to write home about. As with most types of leads it is all a matter of figuring out your ROI. I remember some agents were given leads and many of them would just sit because the agent just didn’t make the calls. How are aged leads these days? I know in the mortgage business old leads can be a goldmine and are typically inexpensive.

In todays date insurance is must for every one. And i think health insurance plays the major role.Insurance with cashless facilities at different hospitals will give added advantage.

If you are a licensed life insurance agent, looking for life insurance leads the old school way by either doing seminars, putting up fliers; be it on cars or doorsteps, or buying lead lists like I was, you are going down the wrong path. You may get some results from those types of lead strategies, but at what dollar cost? I don’t even want to think about the amount of time that I have invested in those strategies.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
I have to disagree that the leads were “searching” for more information. More then likely they were bombarded by ads or were forced to fill out information to complete a download or access a page. As I have not used these leads I have no real idea. However this has been my experience as a so called “lead”

Term policies remain fixed for a set number of years. After the set number of years the policy either terminates or can be rewriten for the same length of time, but you’ll now be evaluated at your new age, not the age you are now.
January 9th, 2010 at 8:52 am
Term policies are like renting. After the set term (5, 10, 20, 30 years) each party walks away. You don’t get any money back, but you’ll have paid less over the course of the 10 years.

Even if you make your offer and they decline, don’t give up. Turning down your offer doesn’t mean they aren’t interested. A life lead might not be ready to face the facts on the first call. If you get a “no”, try again later. Marketing experts have found that the average person needs to hear an offer 7 times before it starts to sink in.
February 22nd, 2010 at 5:18 am
I think there’s room for discussion about the power of web marketing for lead generation too. Web traffic, as a general rule, will already be ready to buy when they land on your site, as they obviously found you when searching for information!

The one thing that is over looked here is the fact that most people are unaware that there is other alternatives to retirement accounts. that is the spin. you have to show them that if they do nothing, what could happen, then show them what has happened and what it will take to get it back. You have to uncover thier pain! and follow up with what needs to be done safely to insure that they will not lose money, or be able to provide income. And yes, you can convince a person to use life insurance or annuities, it’s all part of salemanship. Read the Sandler Sales Institute book, and become the coach instead of the shoulder to cry on. You have to go from counselor to advisor. I should know, i use to be a counselor.

Great information here. I would (personally) hate to be a life insurance salesman because I think most people don’t like being confronted by their own mortality, but it is true that life insurance leads certainly get the gold!
April 24th, 2010 at 5:54 am
As you say, leads are leads and you can’t really expect each and every one of those to turn into concrete opportunities. As a self-employed worker, I have discovered that you really need to keep your cool and not actually believe that you are going to convert 100% of the leads. I am going to read the other tickets because I feel it relates totally to what I am going through right now as a start-up company. Even though I am not in the same field of activity, I know I am going to refer your blog to other people so they can apply the knowledge you provide to other sectors.
Thank you!

I am new to the life insurance leads business, I work for a New York based real estate company, do these leads apply to housing insurance and buyers insurance on certain properties?
April 26th, 2010 at 9:21 am
Most leads from websites or emails seem worthless – just bored repliers. We get the bulk of real sales by traditional means – even door-knocking!
May 10th, 2010 at 8:12 am
This is good information on insurance leads. We all can use more leads to research. It’s all a numbers game. The more people you talk to the more you sell. As my Realtor wife says, You have to circulate to percolate!” The best salesmanship skills in the world won’t help if you are not talking to enough people. Good work ethics and organization are other key ingredients. Good luck everyone!

It’s not that leads aren’t important any more, you just have to have very targeted leads. You can just throw a form out there and expect 1 in 100 people to sign up and purchse.

Complex benefits could be gained from getting involved into insurance company. However, we couldn’t assure which are healthy and vibrant insurance industries. Testimonials are good enough to prove the quality of a certain company and of course, trust should be the number one thing that the insurance company should impose to its members ’cause people need full assurance and reliable future. What I love most about this kind of company is that, the money that the company holds is invested in a wide range of investments which all go towards aiding government, industry, commerce and consequently to the whole country. Thanks for sharing this out.

Online insurance leads , at all times, could not be trusted. If a prospect buyer is serious enough to get an insurance, he would surely inquire directly to the insurance company or to an insurance agent. I’m not totally saying that insurance lead programs from an online source are useless and must not be entertained, but what I’m trying to say is that we should not purely rely to online leads. If you really want to succeed in insurance business, you need to invest in improving your communication skills and convincing skills. Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing this insightful post. I really had a good read.
